Little Lakeside Lecco

Lecco was the first place we visited when we moved to Milan! A little one hour journey and it felt like we were a million miles away ! I could not believe this little hidden gem was only an hour by train from our house !

When you arrive in Lecco you are greeted with charming side streets laced with authentic gelaterias and family run restaurants and business ! This itself was a joy to explore ! Then as you walk down to the lake front you are welcomed with this amazing view !

It was so peaceful, so quaint ! We walked around the area for hours, randomly stopping to sit down just to take in that beautiful view ! There isn’t much to do in Lecco at all if I’m honest but sitting in the baking heat watching the lake glisten before your eyes is so relaxing and soothing.

If you got too hot walking about, which we did , there is an  outdoor swimming pool, which of course we had to visit ! The pool cost €8 to get in but you must wear a swimming cap, even men, they are crazy about cleanliness which I like ! The pool is built out on a cliff side over looking the lakes and the mountains, accompanied by a little mini beach also that allows you to swim in the lake. We didn’t swim in the lake as it was late September and a bit too chilly even for us scots !  I definitely recommend visiting Lecco for a day trip and the pictures speak for themselves as to why you should !

It’s such a lovely escape from the busy hustling bustling city of Milan. Have you ever visited Lecco or any other lake side towns ?

Ciao Frankie xoxo
